Lois Maxwell Childs is beginning her fourth year as the intermediate teacher at BCA. She's a native Oklahoman, whose teaching career spans a total of forty three years. Her teaching experiences encompasses three school districts; Oklahoma City, Atlanta, and Greenville Public Schools.
She has achieved numerous awards due to her commitment and dedication to education. Three times she has been elected by her colleagues as "Teacher of the Year."
She has also been honored with the "Distinguish Reading Teacher Award." In 2003-2004, she was listed in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." She has been honored twice by the African Methodist Episcopal Church for meritorious achievements in education.
Mrs. Childs earned her B.S. degree from North-
eastern State University, and a M.A. degree from
Southeastern State University. She has done additional graduate studies at Furman, Clemson, and Georgia State University.
Her hobbies are collecting sweet grass baskets, growing house plants, traveling, tennis, Yoga, and Tai Chi.
She is married to Casey J. Childs, ll. They reside in Mauldin.
